Clouston Syndrome
Clouston syndrome is a rare, hereditary and permanent form of structural damage to the ectoderm. A malformation of the ectoderm results in changes to the structure of the skin, nails and hair, including all other body hair.
Affected individuals may have hyperkeratosis (thickening) of the skin on the feet and hands, thickened, absent or deformed nails, and non-existent or sparse hair.
This small DNA anomaly greatly disrupts the lives of those affected.
For the medical world, this syndrome is benign, but for the vast majority of sufferers it is catastrophic, both physically and psychologically.
How can we help to combat the distress of Clouston syndrome sufferers?
For those who have lost some or all of their hair, we can offer hair replacement or hair prosthesis (e.g. wig, topper) services.
Additionally, our permanent make-up technician can redefine your face with eyebrow and eye make-up.
